Ranbaxy among six firms probed by UK fraud agencyThe UK's Serious Fraud Office said on Wednesday it was investigating six companies suspected of defrauding the National Health Service over prices charged for penicillin-based antibiotics between 1996 and 2000. The six companies are Generics UK Ltd, a unit of Merck KGaA, Kent Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Regent-GM Laboratories Ltd, Goldshield Group Plc, Norton Healthcare Ltd and Ranbaxy Ltd. The SFO said police had searched a number of residential and business addresses as part of the investigation. "No arrests were made and no charges are imminent. The investigation is complex and is therefore expected to continue for some time," the SFO said in a statement. ALSO READ:
