Market situation under control: PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday said the stock market situation was "under control" and steps were being taken to rebuild investors' confidence.

"Sthithi niyantran mein hai. Avashyak kadam uthaye ja rahein hain (The situation is under control. Necessary steps are being taken)," he told reporters when asked about the latest stock market scam and what measures the government was taking to restore the confidence of small investors.

Vajpayee made these remarks after releasing a book 'Sewa Ka Sach' written by Delhi BJP president Mange Ram Garg.

The book culled out of a diary maintained by Garg illustrates his experiences in political and other spheres.
