CBI grills Parekh through the night

Leading stock broker Ketan Parekh, arrested by the CBI in Bombay on Friday for allegedly defrauding Bank of India of Rs 1.37 billion in a pay order scam, was interrogated by the investigating agency the whole night, CBI sources said Saturday.

He will be produced later in the day before a designated court hearing cases under Prevention of Corruption Act, the sources told PTI.

Parekh was questioned by CBI sleuths till 3 am at the White House headquarters of CBI's Bank Fraud and Securities Cell, at Malabar Hill in South Bombay.

Parekh, arrested from his office on a complaint filed by BoI, has been charged with offences under IPC including conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating. He has also been booked under PCA.

Two relatives of Ketan Parekh - Kirit Parekh and Navin Parekh - were also questioned by the CBI on Friday. The CBI raided 11 places including business and residential premises of Ketan Parekh after the complaint was filed.
