Police file criminal case against
new BALCO Managing Director

The controversy surrounding privatisation of BALCO took a new turn on Tuesday with the police registering a criminal case against its new Managing Director S C Krishnan for allegedly insulting the national flag.

A case has been filed against Krishnan on the basis of a complaint filed by Congress MP Dr Charandas Mahant on Monday, police sources told PTI over phone from BALCO township.

Dr Mahant has complained that the national flag had been insulted as it has been removed from the BALCO administrative building.

The national flag, which used to remain atop the building, was not seen there from March nine to 25, Mahant claimed.

Krishnan was not available for his comment.
