JPC term may be extended

The term of the joint parliamentary committee, probing the stock scam, may be extended beyond the monsoon session of Parliament as it is to examine all "essential angles".

Though the committee would make all efforts to complete its work as early as possible, "no essential angle will be left unscrutinised," JPC chairman, Prakash Mani Tripathi, told reporters.

Asked if he would seek more time for completion of the work, Tripathi said he could not say anything before Parliament was approached for any extension of time.

The JPC was to complete its work before the end of monsoon session.

Tripati, however, said "we plan to complete most of the work before the end of the monsoon session."

He did not agree with reports of slow pace of JPC and said, "I am quite satisfied with the progress. Speed is essential but no details shall be left out."
