N K Singh threatens sue Nirupam

Planning Commission member N K Singh on Tuesday threatened to take legal action against Shiv Sena member Sanjay Nirupam for levelling 'baseless allegations' against him in connection with the UTI muddle.

"I will be left with no option but to take legal action if Sanjay Nirupam does not apologise or retract the baseless allegations levelled against me" in connection with the UTI fiasco, Singh said.

Singh said he has also written a letter to Nirupam regarding his 'empty allegations over the alleged telephone conversations with the former UTI chairman P S Subramanyam'.

He said considering the position he held it was normal for him to talk to chairmen of various financial institutions including UTI.

But to infer what he had talked without knowing the contents of his conversation was not correct, he added.

"At no stage I have spoken to him (Subramanyam) about Cyberspace" as alleged by Nirupam, Singh said.

Also the names mentioned by the former UTI chief in his statement to CBI on July 27 did not carry Singh's name, he said.
