Sonia demands action against US-64 'offenders'Terming the collapse of Unit Trust of India's US-64 scheme as the 'biggest setback' for small investors, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said on Wednesday that the party will launch a nation-wide agitation if no action is taken against the guilty persons. Addressing a rally in Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh, after launching a health scheme and laying foundation of an irrigation project, Sonia said, 'the future of small investors is totally ruined with the collapse of US-64 scheme'. She said that she had written a letter to the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in this regard demanding action against the guilty persons. "If no action is taken on the letter then the Congress will launch a nation-wide agitation against the central government's economic policies," she warned. "It is a serious issue and my party is worried about the future of almost everybody in the country, especially the salaried class that has heavily invested in the scheme and I can imagine what has happened to them after the scheme collapsed," Sonia added.
