Market@November 2: Day's report

The market sentiment remained positive throughout the day. While the software stocks showed mixed trend, the performance of old economy stocks was impressive.

Himachal, Satyam and Zee Tele gained more than 2 per cent each. SSI, Global Tele and Pentamedia however, showed a negative close.

In the non-software segment, MTNL gained more than 12 per cent, ITC was also up more than 5 per cent. Tisco, ACC, Ranbaxy, ICICI, HLL, ICICI and L&T also recorded smart gains.

Sensex up 87 points at 3876, Nifty up 25 points at 1225.
