Indian computer software blue-chip Infosys Technologies Limited on Wednesday said that it had invested Singapore $1 million (US $576,400) in M-Commerce Ventures Pte Limited, a Singapore-based venture capital fund.

A statement from NASDAQ-listed Infosys said that EDB Investments Pte Limited, the investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, administers M-Commerce Ventures.

"M-Commerce Ventures intends to focus on mobile portals, personal information management and messaging, bandwidth optimisation and other areas in the wireless space," the statement said.

"Wireless technologies are the logical next step for businesses seeking to push their digital frontiers," S Gopalakrishnan, Infosys's deputy managing director, said in the statement.
