Swadeshi Jagran Manch flays Maruti deal

The Swadeshi Jagran Manch has criticised the negotiated settlement between the government-owned Maruti Udyog Limited and Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan saying it was unequal and against the interest of the country and the domestic consumers.

P Muralidhar Rao, all-India organiser of the Manch, says the agreement was completely unwise and an unconditional submission to the Suzuki dictates. This has rendered MUL a 'captive company' to subserve the foreign company's interests.

The Manch demanded that the government spell out the compelling reasons to agree to this kind of a ''brazenly unequal'' deal.
