10-year-old kidnapped in Patna
July 18, 2005
In yet another kidnapping incident in Bihar, the son of an IRCON engineer based in Patna has disappeared.
The family says they have no news about 10-year-old Anand, who has been declared missing since July 16.
B B Singh, Anand's father, who is an engineer with IRCON, a subsidiary of the Indian railways, believes Anand has been kidnapped for ransom.
"He left home to play. He usually comes home by 7 pm, but when I came back from office he had still not returned. At 11 pm, he was still missing. I filed a complaint with the police," said Singh.
So far the family has not received any ransom calls but the police have formed a special team to look for Anand.
"We will try our best to find him and catch the people who kidnapped him," said N H Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna.
Anand's possible kidnapping is yet another case in Bihar. At least six kidnappings have taken place in the state in the last two weeks alone with four still missing.
