We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. And we have been inundated with stunning pics of every corner of India.

Here we feature photographs that capture the many colours of this beautiful country. Take a look!

Reader Amit Sharma sends in three beautiful photographs. First up is this photo taken in Diskit, Ladakh in 2008.

"A rainbow arc falling on the peak of the mountain. It was an evening shot and as rare as rainbows are, they are even rarer in Ladakh," says Amit.

Sissu Village, Himachal Pradesh

This photo was taken at Sissu Village, district Keylong.

"Sissu is an eco-tourism village near Keylong on the Manali-Leh road. This beautiful waterfall [in the centre] is just above the airstrip and helipad."

Nimmu, Ladakh

This is the famous confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers," says Amit of this photo. "The blue stream is Zanskar and green is Indus. In the winters when Zanskar is frozen, trekkers do trips on the river bed called the "Chadar expedition". Chadar means blanket and the frozen river literally becomes a blanket of ice. The road visible on the banks of Zanskar goes to Chilling and will connect to Keylong via Zanskar valley on completion."

 

Thoseghar Falls, Maharashtra

Pravin Deshmukh sends in this photo of the awesome Thoseghar waterfall.

"It is around 30 km from Satara city in Maharashtra," he says. "Water falls from the height of approx 500 ft making it breathtaking. The ideal time to visit is in the rainy season. I visited this place in July 2009."

 

 

Stok La, J&K

"As we embarked on a trek towards Stok La, we saw the Il-72 (the workhorse of the Indian Air Force) approaching for landing, against the Stok mountain range."

Pangong Lake

The second pic is of the Pangong Lake.

"A breathtaking place with the icy waters, the lake many hues of blue, and a brilliant blue backdrop to match! We found a few shrimp in the brackish water and there were a few gulls hovering too...in the Himalayas! The far side of the lake belongs to China."

Tincha Fall, Madhya Pradesh

Here Amit Hardiya shares a photo he took at Tincha Falls, about 25 km from Indore.

"It is an ideal weekend getaway. The  water drops from a height of about 300 ft. There is a pond nearby, which enhances the beauty of the place. Located at Tincha village in Indore District, the falls can be accessed by traveling on the Indore-Khandwa road," he shares.

Kille Pargad, Maharashtra

Our last photo is one that Raju A Pawar sent in of Kille Pargad located at Chandgad taluka, Kolhapur district.

"The fort lies about 60 km from Goa or Amboli. It is a good spot to visit, but is quite neglected," he says.
