Travel pics: From Himachal to Lakshadweep
We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. And we have been inundated with stunning pics of every corner of this beautiful country.

First up is Santasmita Das Bhattacharya's photograph taken on a trip to Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh back in September 2008.
"The name of the place is 'Khab'. The bridge is over the confluence of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers on the way to Nako from Kalpa. Just ahead of the bridge is a huge canyon created by the Spiti," she says.

Here Kiran Thota sends this photo of a tea plantation in Ooty.
"It is the best place to tase the best tea and also to buy the best farm-fresh tea," says Kiran.
Ranchi, Jharkhand
Chandan Kumar took this picture in 2008.
"About 30kms away from Ranchi city is this beautiful waterfall called Jonha Fall. It looks magnificent in the rainy season," he says.
Netarhat, Jharkhand
Chandan also sends in this pic taken at Netarhat.
"While I was clicking my friends having fun in the waterfall, I suddenly realised that the sunrays falling on the waterbed was creating a beautiful texture on the sand below the water. I clicked a few pictures and later just increased the temperature of the picture and here's the result."

I still feel it was an achievement to be visit this place. The landslides and rainfall had caused the road leading to this place to almost vanish," says Chandan of this waterfall he visited at Netarhat.
"When I reached here it seemed no one had been there for many months because of the fallen leaves all around. But the
place was absolutely beautifull and it was worth taking a risk to be there."

Priya D Goswami sends in this photo of a "mother and kid rhino disturbed by us busybodies, intruding into their quiet world."
"Rhinos can smell very far, and this family in this shot is actually sizing us up, with their nostrils working hard!"
Lakshadweep's underwater life
Bhavin Gandhi sends in three pics taken on the island of Lakshadweep.
The first is this photo of a sea turtle taken in the islands crystal clear waters.

"The falls are around 40 km away from Varanasi. While studying in Banaras Hindu University, we had a picnic on a cold January morning (January 16, 1999) nearby. The place at that time seemed untouched by mankind and preserved its natural beauty and serenity."
