Here are readers' best photographs from the past year!

We invited readers to share their unique, original photographs from this past year with us -- here's the next set of responses!

First up we have this striking pic called 'The Speaking Tree' from Dr R Satpathy of Rourkela, who says, "This picture was taken in a suburban area of Rourkela City in Orissa. It was cool, green and clean, but over the years it has lost all three. Can we bring them back?"

With 2010 having drawn to a close, we're inviting you to send in your best photograph of last year. We'll be posting a few every day and readers will get to vote for each one. The 20 that land the maximum number of votes will then be compiled into a 'best of' list that will be published at the end of this month.

Simply e-mail your photographs to travelpicsga@rediffmail.com (subject line: 'My unusual pic 2010') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones right here on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, they could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Disclaimer: The photographs featured in this series are, to the best of our knowledge, original entries submitted by readers. Rediff.com does not assume any responsibility for their originality.

Here is one shot by Sourabh Sharma. He says, "I clicked this pic at Governor's Island, New York City. This man looked despondent and with the Statue of Liberty in the background, it couldn't have been more ironic."

Abhisek Mitter of Kolkata sent in this one, saying, "This picture was taken in Mandarmani, West Bengal in December 2010 (Mandarmani is a beach about 160 kms from Kolkata and possible the only place in India where one can drive their vehicle right onto the beach itself). It is a wonderful picture, where we see a three-layered breakage of waves of decreasing intensity at the same time, giving us a rare, stupendous view for only a few seconds. Also, you will spot a small boat in the background, adding to the uniqueness of the picture and beauty."

And finally, we have this pic from Sumit Gupta, who says, " This is a pic of the Millennium Wheel (London Eye). At a height of 135 metres (443 feet), it is the biggest ferris wheel in Europe. I clicked this pic when the rays of the sun (between the clouds) were falling only on the London Eye and the rest was all dark."
