We invited you to send in unique monsoon-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

We received this image from Abhinav Majji of Jamnagar who says, "I took this snap on a cloudy evening in my township. It looked like these blossoms were welcoming a joyous occasion -- it was almost the beginning of the monsoons..."

Share your interesting monsoon snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to travelpicsga@rediffmail.com (subject line: 'Unusual monsoon pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little write-up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, the theme is the monsoons, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Next we have this photograph from Amey Pandit who explains, "These pics were taken in June 2011 while travelling through the Karul Ghat, which joins the town of Gagan Bavada to the Konkan region near Kolhapur. During the rains the ghat region assumes a surreal look due to the mist, water streams and lush greenery."
