Shopping woes: 'I am still waiting for my free gifts!'

Last updated on: January 18, 2011 10:12 IST

Shopping is supposed to be fun, but for these folks it turned out to be anything but!

We recently carried the tale of a reader's unpleasant shopping experience and invited you to write in with yours. Here is the next set of responses!

First up is Bhuvan Rao's experience:

I live in the US for the past 13 years and came to India every year to visit my parents. I had booked a return ticket from Hyderbad to Newyork via Kuwait thru Kuwait airlines.

Due to emergency I had to postpone my trip and went to Kuwait airways office at Nampally.

They kept my ticket under waiting list and told me to inform since it had 15 days gap between my original travel date and postponed date.

I try calling them everyday 2 times a day to find out my ticket confirmation and they keeping on telling me not yet confirmed. On the travel date I went to their office and they told me your ticket has not yet confirmed. I got a call from Kuwait airways at night 11:30 PM and they told me your ticket is confirmed. I told them flight is at 3:00AM and now you are telling me at 11:30 PM it will take me at least two hours to reach Hyderabad airport from ECL and told them "NO".

It is one of my worst nightmares with Kuwait airways. In the airport they had given sub contract to some vendor to handle the baggage check out and they always harass.

I didn't expect these types of things from a major carrier like Kuwait airways.

Jothi Kumar writes in:

I recently was checking for mobile internet. Then a salesman -named Karthik from MTS arrived and showed their offers.

He promised me that if I buy a data card for Rs.1999, I would get a Reebok shoe or sunglass free and free usage of 2gb valid for 2 months.

After I bought the card, he said he will give the gift in 2 days. It's almost 4 months the gift never arrived in spite of me calling him n number of times.

To top it up, there was no free use for 2 months.. He also gave me his supervisor Sridhar, there is no use in calling him either.
Please never go for MTS.

Murtaza Ezzy shares his woes

I am a franchisee with Itz Cash card. I had booked an international air ticket of Air India through akbartravelsonline.com dated 03/12/2010.

The ticket cost me Rs 14844 for 2 passenger and I paid it through Itz Cash Master Card.

For some reason I had to cancel that ticket. I contacted Akbar travels & they told me that Rs 2250 will be deducted and rest will be refunded but when I got my refund the amount deducted was 3250. I called Akbar Travels and they told me that we had received from Itz Card a payment of Rs 13844 (instead of 14844 which has been paid) and hence thy had deducted Rs 2250 only.

They told me to contact Itz Cash.

Upon contacting itz cash they send me bifurcated details of ticket showing I had paid 14190 only (amount deducted against ticket 13844 + service charge 346 = 14190). I have the record of akbartravels online that I had paid Rs 14844 and Itz is telling me that I paid only 14190.

They had even edited my Mastercard account to support that i had paid only 14190 but I have proof that I was debited of Rs 14844.

I had send several emails and calls to Itz care but they are not taking up my complaint.
