Sex sells -- but do these commercials go too far?

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is cracking down on recent men's deodorant commercials, calling them 'overtly sexual' and looking to take them off the air.

The fact that women are depicted as sex-starved and in the mood for mischief in most of these advertisements, chasing after men uninhibitedly, has not gone down well with the Government.

The Ministry has asked the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) to look into the matter and ensure that the advertisements in question are either modified or then banned for going against "good taste and decency".

Do you find these commericals offensive and inappropriate for TV audiences too? Take our poll and let us know!

Set Wet Zatak Cool Talc

We start off with this naughty clip set in an old-fashioned tailor's shop. The tailor's son applies talc in question, starts measuring up a pretty lady and bam! They're all over each other right there in the shop.

Set Wet Zatak Perfume Deos

Next setting -- dentist's office. Boy has toothache, but makes mistake of applying Set Wet Zatak Perfume Deo before heading into the clinic. His dentist unbuttons him, then herself and is ready to get down and dirty right there in the chair!

Wild Stone Juice

We now move onto Wild Stone Juice, the deodorant that has women forgetting their husbands when they get a whiff of it. There's a family wedding happening, heroine walks by hero's room, gets a whiff of his sweetness and starts eating watermelon so sexily we're craving it too -- watermelon, that is! Her hubby calls her in the midst of her fruity display of lust and she cuts his call. Poor sap!

Wild Stone Aqua Fresh

Ah, the wet sari, that ultimate Indian display of sensuality! This time it's Sheetal Mallar who runs out onto her terrace to rescue her laundry from a summer shower, gets a whiff of her good-looking neighbour looking on and promptly drops her bundles to soak in the rain and put on a lusty display for him.

The Axe-Effect

Of course, they're the ones who got this ball rolling with their suggestive ads across the world, but Axe deodorant has toned down its raciness for Indian audiences. Still, is it toned down enough?

In this commercial, a guy walks into a cafe and wants a snack. His aroma is so heavenly, the cute waitress attending to him grabs a bottle of ketchup suggestively and ends up squooshing out her number for him -- on his sandwich!

The Axe-Effect

Here's another unforgettable one from Axe. A hunk sprays on his deo in an elevator. Hunk leaves, sexy lady and geek enter, but the leftover smell gets her so hot and bothered she hits the 'Stop' button and makes a move on Mr Geek. When the elevator re-opens, we see her walk off with a smile and he can't seem to believe his luck, but then...!

Slice Aamsutra

We just don't get it -- what is the connect between fruit and sex? Katrina Kaif handles a bottle of the Slice mango beverage with such seductiveness, we're just glad she stopped short of planting a big smooch on it! When her lover enters, she hides the bottle and acts coy, as if she's concealed another lover in the room. Say it with us, people -- weird!

Slice Aamsutra

Cooky Kat is back at it in another clip for Slice and this one is even more curious. She walks into the livingroom where her boyfriend/husband is seated and proceeds to wet her parched lips with a few luscious sips of the drink. He then makes a move toward her and instead of making his move, snatches the bottle. How cute is that -- sigh.

Amul Macho

Look out, ladies -- there's a new sex kitten in town! Amul Macho takes it to another level with this nutty advert.

A new young bride brings her washing to the river ghat and proudly displays an unbelievably large (and ugly!) pair of man's briefs, much to the chagrin of all the other women. She then proceeds to wash them seductively and holds them up as the punchline is delivered -- 'crafted for fantasies'. We have just one word -- blech!
