Sago Crispies

Whip up these delicious traditional preparations to celebrate the festive season.

We invited readers to share their festive recipes with us. Here is the new set of responses!

First up we have a recipe for Sago Crispies from Satyasree's blog superyummyrecipes.com.

She writes: "With Diwali just around the corner I prepared one of my favorite snacks today, a traditional savory Andhra snack whose main ingredients are curd and sago. It's crunchy and tangy flavor and the little pearls that burst out at the end give it a very unique appearance."

Procedure

Note:

  1. Oil should be properly heated initially medium to high flame and it should not be too hot as it will get charred and if too cold will not fry properly.
  2. Adding roasted channa dal powder makes it more crispy.
  3. The green chilli paste should be very fine otherwise it will stick to the plate inside the murukku press and dough will not come out smoothly
  4. Sago should be properly soaked. To check if it is soaked properly press it between your fingertips and it should be completely soft.

Mini Chirote

Mini Chirote

Amrita Das Biju runs a food blog called Mittu Cooking Love. She writes: "I made this recipe keeping the famous Sweet Chiroti/Chirote in mind; it even tastes just like it.

The only difference is it is less flaky and also the shape is smaller and round. Really cute too! So basically it is a Mini Spiral Chirote!

If you are having an Indian theme party or a gathering, make these and they are bound to be a hit.

Also serve these Diwali Sweets in mini cup cake wrappers and you're done."
