2 States: 'True love always finds a way'

We asked you to share your 2 States stories and we've been inundated with your responses. Trisha shares hers:

My husband Lucky is from Punjab and I am from Tripura.

Interestingly, we were born in same year 17 days apart.

We met in England in 2008 through a social networking site.

He was doing his Masters in Architecture and I was working in a restaurant as a floor manager.

Soon we became friends and before long we realised we wanted to spend our lives with each other.

That being said, we also didn't want to get married without the blessings of our families.

I am a Chakma tribal Buddhist girl and he is a Hindu, so we thought it was going to be tricky, though I knew my mother would stand by me.

Lucky was sure his family would accept me but I was afraid.

So the next time we flew back to India, I spent some time with his family and found them to be very warm and accommodating.

During my visit, we even visited Vaishno Devi where I prayed that they accept me!

A week later, I flew back to my hometown, Agartala where I received a call from his father.

He asked me if I had thought of getting married.

I said I would if I find someone who is like him (suggesting my interest in his son) :-)

He asked me if I trusted him (to take the decision for me).

I said yes and he asked me to leave the rest to him

And that was how Lucky's dad proposed marriage on behalf of his son! :-)

We soon received a word from his family about the wedding date and on September 15, 2010 we got married in England and on September 11, in India.

My elder brother doesn't speak with me but I am not bothered a lot by that.

Lucky's family loves me a lot as does my mother who is happy for me.

We also have a son called Aiden who two years old!

As they say, true love always finds a way!
