Admission to Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research

What: A dual BS-MS degree which is an integrated five year course after class 12. The first two years will have core courses in basic sciences and the third and fourth years will be dedicated to specialisation in a chosen science subject. The fifth year will be devoted to a research project.

Who can apply: Candidates who satisfy any one of the three criteria may apply: 1. have obtained a minimum of 60% in the Class XII exams and have secured a rank in the IIT JEE merit list. 2. Students who have qualified in the Class XII in 2010 or 2011 in the science stream qne have qualified in the Joint IISER Science Aptitude Test. 3. Students who have qualified in SA 2009 or SX 2010 or SB 2010 or passed SP (10+2 in 2010/2011) under the Kishore Vaigyanic Protsahan Yojana (KVPY).

Scholarships: All admitted students are elighible for a monthly scholarship of Rs 5000, suject to continued good academic performance.

Important dates: Recieving online applications between March 21 and June 23, 2011 for KVPY qualifiers, June 9 to June 23 for IIT JEE qualifiers, and June 15 to July 8 for State and Central board qualifiers. Counceling is on July 2, 2011 for KVPY and IIT JEE qualifiers, and on July 16, 2011 (along with aptitude test) for State and Central board qualifiers.
