It's not just heredity that catapulted the B-Town hero to superstardom -- here's how he built up and maintains that great physique.

He came, he saw, he conquered the hearts of millions.

It's undeniable -- Hrithik Roshan is as hunky as they come. But if you think that all this Bollywood heartthrob has to do is fall out of bed to look good, you're mistaken.

Hrithik seems to have the complete package -- it encompasses all the chief factors, like an athletic body with strong, bulky muscles, tight abs and a narrow waistline. These, however, are a lot more than a genetic inheritance -- they are the result of hard work at the gym and sacrifices at home, like deprivation of several favourite high-calorie foods.

With a physique that matches up to international standards, Hrithik is an inspiration to all his fans who wish to build up a great bod just like his. And here's how you can too -- in the following pages, we bring you his diet and fitness routine, so stay tuned!

Workout sessions start at 6 am

  • Hrithik does not work out daily. Instead, he limits his sessions to four or five days a week.
  • His workout sessions consist of an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening at a Juhu gym.
  • He combines weight training with cardio exercises twice a week.
  • He tries to find time to do cardio (jogging and skipping) at least thrice a week, in the midst of his busy schedule.
  • He begins exercise sessions at six in the morning and starts off with jogging.
  • He gives importance to individual parts of the body. He performs specially conceptualised exercises for each part.
  • He reveals that he does not depend on supplements to pump up muscles.
  • While travelling, Hrithik carries imported pressure pull machines, which he uses even when on board a flight. He makes use of a vacuum press to fix the equipment to a flat surface; pulling the handles exercises his biceps. He applies the same process to his legs as well. He also carries dumbbells while on tour.

No special dietary restrictions, but no overindulging either

  • He enjoys a protein-based chocolate shake daily, as per the recommendations of his fitness instructor.
  • He never skips breakfast.
  • He does not drink, but when the occasion demands it, he opts for a Bacardi with Coke.
  • Despite his sweet tooth, he controls his intake of sweets -- no overindulging!
  • He also restricts his consumption of oil, ghee, butter and fatty stuff.
  • He makes sure to drink a lot of water daily.
  • He keeps away from alcohol and cigarettes.

  • He recommends swimming or jogging twice a week to meet the body's flexibility requirements.
