Beyonce's new bikini ad brews modesty war

Residents of a New York neighbourhood have taken to covering up Beyonce's bikini ads for clothing store H&M.

According to New York blog Bowerie Boogie, a bus stop billboard of the 31-year-old singer in a barely-there bikini was covered up, Stuff.co.nz reported.

One person said that everyday someone tapes a cover over the ad and everyday people rip it down.

The person added that they suspect the same modesty war exists in Williamsburg, but it is daily now.

Raquel Pomplun has landed Playboy's coveted Playmate of the Year title.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner raved about the April 2012 cover girl at a luncheon in her honour on Thursday, May 9, at the Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, California, where he announced the news and revealed Pomplun's June PMOY cover, Us Magazine reported.

"This year's Playmate of the Year is a winner in every way," the 87-year-old magazine mogul said in his introduction, adding that Pomplun is the first Mexican-American to be chosen for the honour.

Since becoming Miss April, Pomplun has become extremely popular through personal appearances.

She's been a host on Playboy Radio's Playboy Club and Playboy Presents, and a member of the Playboy Dancers.

She's also appeared as a host on Black Belt TV.

Rita Ora has signed a 500,000-pound contract to be the new face of Madonna's clothing brand, Material Girl.

The 22-year-old pop star has already shot campaign photos for the label, which is run by the 54-year-old singer and her daughter Lourdes, the Sun reported.

A source told the publication that the endorsement from the veteran star could help Ora crack the US, where she still needs a big break.

The source said that Lourdes and Ora met at the Met Ball in New York last week and Madonna admired the Hot Right Now singer's attitude, and so thought of the idea.

"Rita jumped at the chance because she's such a fan of the Queen Of Pop," the source said.

The brand, sold in Macy's stores in the US, is 1980s inspired and is aimed at teenagers.
