We take a look at the most talked-about and cutting edge outfits the rich and famous have been seen in this past year!

Last week, the BBC reported that late Charlie's Angels actress Farrah Fawcett's legendary red swimsuit is being donated to Washington's Smithsonian Museum.

She wore the one-piece in a popular poolside poster, shot by photographer Bruce McBroom in 1976, which apparently sold millions of copies.

We all know that certain fashions have the potential go down in history, to be discussed and celebrated for decades to come.

So in the following pages, we've compiled a list of the most iconic outfits we saw in the last one year -- check them out!

Closer to home, we know which Bollywood diva created the biggest stir with her rocking outfit (and rocking toned bod!) last year. And credit for the hot pink choli and funky dhoti-style cut-offs goes to designer Aki Narula.

Lady Gaga's meat dress

On the international front, eccentric popster Lady G definitely created the biggest impact with her steak-y style at the MTV Video Music Awards 2010. In fact, her meat dress swept a poll by website MyCelebrityFashion.com to land her the Number One spot for Most Iconic Outfit 2010.

For those not in the know, the outfit was designed by Argentinian Franc Fernandez -- it was put together using from 40 pounds of flank steak and was turned into beef jerky after Gaga was done with it!

Aishwarya's android look in Robot

Ash's red carpet choices are usually safe, boring and predictable. Which is why her many colourful, creative looks in Robot (Endhiran) took everyone by storm.

We loved her android appeal, which was the work of famed Hollywood costume designer Mary E Vogt and Manish Malhotra. Definitely one of 2010's most unforgettable looks!

Kate Middleton's engagement dress

To make the most important announcement of her life to the world, soon-to-be-royal Kate Middleton chose a demure blue dress -- one that matched the whopper of a sapphire on her engagement ring -- by Brazilian-born designer Danielle Issa Helayel.

Within 24 hours of the official announcement, the 399 pound Issa number had sold out completely across the UK. And young women are still trying to get their hands on cheaper high street replicas to this day. If that's not iconic, nothing is!

Vidya Balan's 'topless' sari

When a sari is worn minus the blouse, it's bound to be a hot topic of discussion -- even more so when the wearer is Bollywood sweetheart Vidya Balan.

The actress decided to shed her goody-two-shoes image and prove her sexual prowess once and for all last year with this bold shot. And of course, the richly-bordered embroidered floral drape was by Sabyasachi. No, we don't think she wears anything else, either.

Emma Watson's lace dress

It was a momentous occasion, the premiere of the first half of the last-ever Harry Potter movie. And star Emma Watson decided to make a momentous statement with her shorn hair and grown-up red carpet choice.

Her pixie do and black lace-feather ensemble by designer Rafael Lopez drove the point home -- Emma is not only a successful young adult, she's also a style icon.

Mallika Sherawat's leafy bikini

Any year would be incomplete without Mallika Sherawat managing to grab headlines with her bod-baring outfits.

While her much-hyped movie Hisss tanked at the box office in 2010, her snake-y sex appeal grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Mallika even did a memorable Pamela Anderson-like turn in a leafy bikini, which we're guessing was the work of costume designer Payal Saluja.

Cheryl Cole's bondage tights

When Cheryl Cole performed on The X Factor last year, everyone got a look at her sizzling legs -- and funky tights.

The bondage-style tiger-striped hosiery by Wolford's retails at 32 pounds and sparked quite a trend, with fans of the style icon hankering for a pair. They're sexier than leggings for sure!

Katy Perry's Falguni and Shane mini

It's always nice when Indian talent makes the fashion news internationally. And that's just what happened when Katy Perry wore this green studded, feathered body-con mini while receiving her Best Music Video award at the MTV Europe Music Awards last year.

Created by Falguni and Shane Peacock, the popster's feather fashion went down so well that other big names like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga are in talks with the duo for future collaborations.

Michelle Obama's Prabal Gurung outfit

And finally, we have this elegant number by Prabal Gurung, an alumni of Delhi's National Institute of Fashion Technology. The First lady of the United States wore it while donating her inaugural gown to the Smithsonian Museum of American History last March.

The black and white sleeveless dress, with brush-painted roses, suited her to the tee and gave Gurung an added edge with the swish set -- his clientele already includes prominent personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Demi Moore and Zoe Saldana.
