Sushma Khan, national trainer for skin and makeup, Lakme, spoke to rediff.com on how to take care of your skin during summer and winter. She also shared some quick tips for office makeup.

Summer tips: In summer, your skin sweats a lot. That leads to dehydration and loss of natural moisture from your skin. The common problem of Indian skin is that it gets discoloured and tanned during summertime.

The five golden rules I'd advice are:

  • Cleansing
  • Toning
  • Moisturising
  • Sunscreen
  • And the weekly use of a face pack.

Also, it is always advisable to go to an expert so that they can check and analyse your skin and suggest a solution.

Tips for winter:

In winter also the same problem exists, because the skin becomes very dry. Again, you need to hydrate and moisturise your skin a lot. You need to follow the same five steps mentioned above to take care of your skin in winter also.

The only difference is that in summer you should apply light gel and water-based products. In winter you need more of oil-based and moisture-based products for your skin.

Tips for office-going people:

Buy eye liner colours matching your dress.

After every hour or two you need to puff your skin with a compact...what it does is it soaks excess moisture and oil from your skin and at the same time it will give you a matte effect too.

Finally, don't forget to use sun screen and don't forget to remove your makeup before you go to bed.
