Have you always been a fitness freak or did modelling force you into it?

I am a trained dancer so I was always into some fitness regime.

Now as a model, it's become an intrinsic part of my life. It's a part of my job and I am glad that I get paid to be fit and look good.

Your fitness regime before and after full time modelling...

Over the years, my workouts have evolved and now include martial arts, swimming and dance apart from a gym routine.

I have a better understanding of my body requirements now.

As a professional model, I try not to compromise on my diet and 6-8 hours of sleep which are very essential for a good body.

Model Jitin Gulati presents an Anita Dongre's creation

How addicted are you to working out?

I won't use the word addiction here but I am quite a stickler.

There have been times in my life where I have toiled to get to a good gym and to be with a good trainer.

I have never compromised on the quality and guidance that I am getting on my workouts.

Your fitness plan when you are travelling.

Most of the hotels where we stay while travelling have gyms and swimming pools, so I tag my gym wear along.

Otherwise, there are a lot of exercises that doesn't need gym equipment, a hotel room is just as good.

What is the biggest dampner in your workout regime?

It has to be erratic work timings.

What fitness tips would you like to share with aspiring models?

Do not overlook your long term health for short term benefits.

What is your take on 6 pack abs?

It is a result of your diet more than anything else...having a proportionate body is most important for a model. Six pack abs is incidental.

How do you workout at home?

Our body weight is as good as gym weights for various exercises at home. I am basically an outdoor person so I like to go out and sweat it out.

Which is the most difficult exercise?

For me it is the workout for legs. It is difficult, much ignored but extremely important workout for a fit body.

The most common workout blunder that people commit...

Not warming up enough before the workout. It is a common reason for injuries.

Your favourite workout attire...

Track suit. But I am quite attached to my gym cap. It acts as horse blinkers to keep my focus intact.

What are the essential things that you carry in your gym bag?

Skipping rope, gym gloves, my post workout energy drink and shoes.
