DSC RX100 by Sony is a pocket sized digital camera that features world's first 1.0 type CMOS sensor along with 20.2 effective megapixels and with F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens that lets you zoom optically up to 3.6x.

The ultimate images when seen in playback are packed with details that are held tightly. As far as the video recording is concerned, it can be shot in Full High Definition, with negligible noise.

The dimensions of the CMOS sensor are 13.2mm x 8.8mm and the Exmor CMOS here, has been combined with the enhanced imaging processor, BIONZ. This combination delivers optimised noiseless projection and fine-tuned defocus images.

All the composition is done via 3 inches wide Xtra Fine LCD that has a 921,000 dot resolution and 16 million colors reproduction. The RX100 sports New WhiteMagic technology that uses white pixels in addition to the RGB colour scheme to enhance the brightness of the screen.

Canon PowerShot G1 X

2. Canon PowerShot G1 X

G1 X, as taglined by Canon, is really no coincidence, for the camera sports the largest sensor at 1.5 inches with optical zoom up to 4x. It does not beat RX100 by megapixel count with 14.3MP but the high-sensitivity CMOS sensor of this size is worth to produce great imagery.

You can even have 14-bit RAW files of images at hand, the ISO at max reaches 12800. Fans have a fad for this sensor because it allows continuous high-speed shoot at 4.5fps and AF control over moving subjects.

Another exciting feature is the image stabiliser that chooses optimum IS for all shoot conditions, for both videos and photos. The IS even recognises when you are panning, taking a macro shot or a telephoto shot, and prevents any shake or jerk by both subject and the camera, and apparently is the main reason for buying the camera.

G1 X is very compatible with an array of EOS accessories that are basically intended for EOS DSLRs. The camera can also be taken underwater, since WP-DC44 casing can be availed for G1 X. It is priced nearly 10k higher than RX100, at Rs 47,995.
