High on features and low on price these are the best pocket-friendly digital single lens reflex cameras available in the market today.

Nikon D5300

Price: Rs 49,450

This DSLR's design includes 3.2-inch wide tilt LCD within a more compact body than its predecessor.

Along with full HD resolution video recording with stereo sound format, the Nikon D5300 features Wi-Fi connectivity for quick sharing on social sites.

The best part when it comes to imaging is that it doesn't come with an OLPF (optical low pass filter) which results in impressive sharpness levels in images, thanks to the 24MP APSC CMOS sensor.

There is also an in-built GPS/A-GPS that lets you geo-tag your images that reveals the location where those images were shot.

What we like: Built-in Wi-Fi; image quality is brilliant; a customisable function button.

What we don't: Disappointing kit lens; live AF is slow; no master function to in-built flash.

Canon EOS 100D

Price: Rs 48,995

Canon EOS 100D can be stated as a neo-compact DSLR by Canon, which lies mid-way between Canon 600 and 700D.

The EOS 100D's specs array is same as the 650D, plus the 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor and hybrid autofocus distinguishes it from other rival cameras.

Burst mode speed is 4fps and video recording is full HD.

And here is the catch: it is smaller and lighter by 25 per cent and 28 per cent, respectively, over 650D.

What we like: Creative filters, compact body and rubberised grip design.

What we don't: Small battery life due to small battery and design; price is as high as Canon EOS 700D and AF system is only cross-type point.
