LG and Samsung have come up with their own masterpieces: LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Where Samsung has won the hearts of many with its outstanding Galaxy series, LG, on the other hand, has earned the trust of many customers with its quality products and features. With G3, LG too is expected to see its day in the limelight and fame!

Here's a look at the top features of G3 and S5 that will be competing to grab your eyeballs.

Design and display

Both the companies have provided their flagship devices a premium look, like their competing brand -- Apple -- does. But in lieu of giving a metallic body, Samsung and LG have given plastic bodies to these devices. Where Samsung has used faux leather for Galaxy S5's back, LG has used faux metal. They may have not used actual metal to cut down costs, but the effort to impart a metallic look is perfect.

In case of LG G3, there are no side buttons for easy and care-free handling; however, Galaxy S5 has side buttons.

Talking of screen resolution, S5 offers 432ppi pixel density with 1920 by 1080 pixels resolution for 5.1-inch display, whereas LG decided to go for 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution for the gigantic 5.5-inch screen with a pixel density of 538ppi. With Quad HD technology, LG brings crystal-clear display right in your hands.

Software, hardware and memory

Software

Both the handsets use Android 4.4 KitKat version with their customised skins on top. With Samsung Magazine UX you can enjoy all your content with a single click, whereas LG G3 still focuses on simplicity and LG has labelled G3's UI as ‘Simple flat graphic user interface'.

We should note one point that LG G3 is all about simplicity and even the motto of the company while launching this set was ‘Simle is the new Smart'. Overall, you will find only minor changes in the UIs and that too because of the personal customisation by the companies.

The best thing about LG G3 is its keyboard.

This unique feature, offered for the first time, where you can adjust the height of the keyboard and can also adjust the width of the same so that you don't have to compromise on typing speed and accuracy. Further, simply by swiping the thumb up while typing you can choose the suggested word appearing on the screen and long pressing on spacebar will bring the cursor back for editing the text.

Samsung Galaxy S5, on the other hand, offers a standard QWERTY keyboard.

Processor

Processor specs just can't help you in making any decision because both the sets offer Qualcomm's fast Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.5GHz clock speed. But, since Samsung has the habit of making region-based hardware, some international markets will get an octa core Samsung Exynos CPU in Galaxy S5.

RAM and memory

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers 2GB of RAM which is simply the best for high-end games and heavy multi-tasking. In this section, again LG G3 stepped up to be a little different from the conventional standards. The amount of RAM in G3 will depend on the variant you go for.

The 16GB variant gets 2GB RAM and the 32GB variant gets 3GB RAM. It seems LG is inspired from laptops in making such a split.

Now if we talk of internal and external storage, both the sets offer 16GB and 32GB variants with a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Camera and battery

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers a whopping 16MP rear camera with 2MP front camera. Such a camera is just perfect for this smartphone and the image quality for both the snappers is simply stunning and life-like. The only drawback is that its camera takes a lot of time to load.

In terms of camera features, Galaxy S5 has all the same features, introduced in Galaxy S4, but improvised for S5.

On the other hand, LG offers 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera. The LASER technology implemented in the camera makes the autofocus relatively faster.

Further, its advanced OIS+ technology has brought nearly 20 per cent extra improvement in camera-shake compensation section, thus waving a goodbye to the blurred images. Not only this, G3's front camera is also revamped with larger and an increased number of image sensors, where simply raising your hand in front of the secondary snapper will allow you to take selfies.

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers a 2,800mAh battery with a unique ultra power saving mode, which will shift your screen to black and white and will make only selected apps available like email, messaging, phone, web, etc., when you run out of battery.

The company claims that even the last 10 per cent of the battery will last another 24 hours if your S5 is in ultra power saving mode. This is one of the best features offered by Samsung so far.

On the other hand, LG G3 offers a massive 3,000mAh battery but since it has to power a 538ppi screen, the power supplied in both the sets will almost be the same.

In case of LG G3, LG uses 3A (adaptive frame rate, adaptive clocking and adaptive timing control) optimisation to improve the battery consumption by 20 per cent.

Other features

Fingerprint scanner

Samsung Galaxy S5's fingerprint sensor offers a little feel of iPhone's Touch ID. With this feature, you can use your fingerprints to unlock your otherwise passcode-protected phone. Not only this, it also works too well with third party apps.

Further, Samsung Galaxy S5, with its Heart Rate Sensor, is a win-win for those people who are very conscious about their health.

Smart Notice Feature

LG G3 offers a Smart Notice feature for alerts and notifications. Like other Android smartphones, it drops down from the top menu and offers basic alerts like time, location, events and phone conditions but at the same time also makes a real time analyses of the these data to provide you valuable information just at the right time.

LG G3 also offers few special features that not only improves the functionality of the device but also delivers top class performance at your end. These features are:

Knock Code

Makes an invisible pattern with 3 to 8 taps on the screen to unlock the phone. This way there are millions of codes that can be generated and it is almost impossible to guess the tap positions.

Content Lock

You can easily hide photos, videos and other files from public view to maintain your privacy. These may be visible on the screen but only the administrator will be able to see the content.

Kill Switch

This feature allows you to disable your G3 from a remote location and this comes handy when your phone gets misplaced or stolen. These features permanently make your G3 unusable so that all your personal content and information still remains secure.
