Mah SSC results: Only 2 per cent score above 90
While the overall pass percentage in the state has increased by 5 per cent from last year, the percentage of students scoring above 90 per cent has come down by 3 per cent this year. Read on.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the class 10 Senior Secondary Certificate examination results yesterday.
The overall pass percentage of the state has increased by 5 per cent from last year.
While the overall pass percentage of the state stood at 81.32 per cent against 76.06 per cent last year, only 1.96 per cent students scored above 90 per cent this year. Last year 5.1 per cent students scored above 90 per cent.
Roughly 9 per cent students have scored between 80 and 90 per cent, with a reasonably higher percentage of students (15.25 per cent) scoring between 60 to 65 per cent.

Among the nine divisions across Maharashtra, Konkan emerged highest with an overall pass percentage of 93.94 per cent followed by Pune with 90.71 per cent and Kolhapur 89.17 per cent.
Mumbai division, inclusive of Thane and Raigad comes fourth with a pass percentage of 80.65 per cent.
Despite having ample time to prepare for the examination, students attribute the fall in percentage to the change in the syllabus which include Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) which feature in algebra, science and geometry papers.
"Since this was the first year since HOTS was introduced, some of us lost 10-12 marks in algebra and science, which affected our overall score," expressed Vikrant Parab from Model English School, Mumbai, who scored 67 per cent in SSC this year.
More than 2,500 schools across the state secured 100 per cent results this year, of which 682 schools are from Mumbai division.
