Last minute tips to crack the JEE 2013

In an online chat with readers, Ramesh Batlish, head, FIITJEE, Noida centre addressed queries on how to crack the IIT-Joint Entrance Exam.

The offline exam will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Sunil asked, Good afternoon sir. Thank you for the opportunity. Can you please tell me the important subjects I can revise in the last two days

Ramesh Batlish answers, Dear Sunil, In the last two days just consolidate your preparation by revision of selected concepts,formulae,etc. To fine tune yourself take a mock test on the second last day. Do not plan much for the last day as this might cause nervousness and stress. Stay relaxed and calm. have a good sleep and make sure you reach the exam centre atleast 30 mins before the exam starts. samad asked, It is possible to crack JEE without class's Like FIITJEE ect

Ramesh Batlish answers, Dear Samad,One Must have the right kind of skills and aptitute to clear any entrance exam. If you have it and you are very well aware of it then probably you can do it yourself.

Ramesh Batlish answers, In order to crack JEE (Mains) 2013 Exam one will have to be particular on the following points. 1. Complete knowledge of the JEE (Mains) syllabus. 2. Sound analysis of the exam 3.Changing pattern of the exam in last few years 4.Right strategy for the exam 5.Confidence to crack it 6.Most importantly don't panic, No one is perfect. Stay calm on the exam day and give your best performance.

ramsingh asked, Which mode of exam is better, on line or off line & why ?

Ramesh Batlish answers, If you are comfortable with computers go for online. if not go for offline Exams.

ramsingh asked, will there be any change in pattern of JEE main comapred to AIEEE.If I have prepared sylabus as per CBSE for class XI & XII thoroughly whether I expect a rank in JEE.

Ramesh Batlish answers, No. you may expect a rank provided your preparation is on the platform of JEE (mains) and not just board level questions.

madhulika asked, good afternoon sir, could you please tell me whether revising the ncert book and giving a cursory glance to other material would be enough? or is it imperative to solve questions of the bitsat or jee-advanced level?

Ramesh Batlish answers, JEE questions test your concepts apart from just coverage of syllabus. Only NCERT may not be sufficient. Suitable tests to check the application of concepts is a must.

Ramesh Batlish answers, yes if you have the right analytical & comprehensive skills alongwith sound concepts in PCM od Class XI& XII, you may definitely have a chance.

AMIT asked, how do people in smaller cities prepare for the same? which books u suggest one should start reading after class 8?

Ramesh Batlish answers, Enrol for good quality correspondence course like RSM of FIITJEE, AITS,etc...

AJOY asked, Appearing for mock test for how many months is sufficient for preparation

Ramesh Batlish answers, mock test of full syllabus are generally taken towards the end of the course completion.

ramsingh asked, By joining a coaching centre after school, a student is left with very less time for self study . How to overcome this ?

Ramesh Batlish answers, Time mangement will play an importatnt role here. Those who prepare well for JEE try to utilise every min, sec from their daily routine to study. Utilisation of vacations for study.completion of Board syllabus of XII as early as summers of XI could be one way to manage your studies. one needs to plan his/her studies for a week and follow it seriously.

Ramesh Batlish answers, Always attempt theoretical questions first and then questions which require calculation. Its human nature that if you attempt a few confident questions in the beginning then you feel loaded with positive energy which increases your efficiency and speed for the rest of the paper. It is advisable to avoid numerical questions in the first 10 or 15 minutes of the exam

You must attempt questions carrying no negative marks Don't be nervous if you find the paper tough since it is the RELATIVE PERFORMANCE that counts. Ramesh Batlish answers, You should have ahd a good practise of previous years papers. try easy questions first and then move on to the tough ones. if you are slow in Maths do chem & phys first.Maths will take more time to solve

Ramesh Batlish answers, relative level will remain same. Boards and JEE are different in terms of numericals. in JEE concept application is judged.

Ramesh Batlish answers, ONE DAY BEFORE THE JEE (Mains) One day before JEE (Mains) do not study anything. Stay calm, confident and trust yourself. Say to yourself I am excited about JEE (Mains) and I can crack it easily. Relax yourself or indulge in meditating a day before the actual Exam to give your best on the exam day. Don't talk anything about JEE (Mains) with others. Don't ask your friend how much they have studied. It will create pressure. Have a sound sleep for at least 6-7 hours Prepare yourself to reach the exam centre one hour before the exam starts.

fiona asked, is there any weightage of class 12th boards marks for getting selected in IIT colleges

Ramesh Batlish answers, you must be in top 20 percentile of your board, however there is no weightage.

Ramesh Batlish answers, Not at all. You have the NITs,IIIts, and many more deemed universities which also provide good future.

Ramesh Batlish answers, you can still prepare with a systematic approach with proper time management. Consider joining a reputed institute to do so.
