Garware Motors launched the Hyosung twins in India with a lot of excitement. Only to be surprised with the entry of the Kawasaki Ninja at a cheaper price. Having just two bikes, that also in a niche segment won't help Garware Motors cause to earn significant profits in India. Naturally, they need to expand and have announced more models for India, one in the 250cc segment and another in the 400cc segment.
Now, they just have one motorcycle in the 250cc space with two versions -- one the sports one (with full fairing) and the other street one (naked street fighter) and both are headed to India very soon.

Now the Hyosung GT250 is nothing but a naked version of the GT250R. Also known as the Comet in many countries, the GT250 is powered by a 249cc, V-Twin motor that produces power of 29 bhp at a high 10000 RPM.
Torque figures are rated at 23 Nm, which is decent enough for city duties. The twin cylinder engine in the Hyosung GT250 ensures a quick 0-100 kmph time and a top speed well in excess of 150 kmph.

The Hyosung GT250 weighs just 155 kgs, which is slightly lighter than the CBR and Ninja.
This will ensure more power to weight for the naked street fighter. The Korean motorcycle also features fuel injection and upside down forks. The front have a 110 section tyre, while the rear has wide 150 section tyres. The headlight is FZ-like, while the rest is similar to the full faired version of the GT250.

Garware Motors plans to locally assemble bikes in India at their facility in Wai, near Pune. This will ensure a competitive price for the GT250, when it goes on sale next year.

Garware Motors will showcase the GT250 at the upcoming Auto Expo in January, 2012 to gauge customer response. So make sure you look inquisitive and interested so that we have another worthy rival to the Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 250R and the upcoming KTM Duke 200.
