Hero MotoCorp might have split up with Honda forcing them to bring their own technology but that doesn't seem to be a big deal for India's largest two-wheeler company.

The automaker has invested heavily in setting up its R&D operations and has multiple tie-ups with established companies for sourcing technology.

Hero believes it can continue to dominate the market by bringing in new products which will see their own technology being utilised.

A few of these products have been detailed recently at the company's global sales and marketing conference in Macau.

Hero MotoCorp has developed i3S which stands for 'ideal Stop Start System'.

This is nothing but an engine stop-start system which reduces fuel consumption by shutting off the engine when not in use. So when you come to a halt at a traffic light, the bike automatically shuts off and as soon as the signal goes green, you get on to the throttle and the engine powers back to life, all done by the system with no human input required.

This technology will debut in the Splendor iSmart and is a segment first. This feature is mostly found on cars.

Hero has also developed an electronic immobiliser which increases the safety of the vehicle.

The key has a chip which matches with the system to enable start-up, thereby preventing fake keys from working on the bike.

This helps in preventing thieves from robbing the motorcycle. The said system debuts in the Hero Xtreme.

The third system which Hero has developed is called IBS aka Integrated Braking System.

To be seen on the Hero's scooters, the IBS applies both front and rear brake simultaneously for surefooted stopping power.
