Tiger diaries: A day in Spotty's life

July 27, 2018 09:31 IST

We'd asked you, dear readers, to share stories and photographs of the national animal.
Rediff reader Vijayarajan Muthu, 46, shares his story.

Vijayarajan Muthu spotted a tigress named Spotty at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.

She gets her name from the 'T' mark on her left eyebrow.

Here are some photographs:

We were soaking in the sounds of the jungle when tigress Spotty appeared out onto the track, right in front of our safari to check us out before descending down a gorge, ever so gracefully. Photographs: Kind courtesy Vijayarajan Muthu

A calm and relaxed Spotty snapped while scent marking during a stroll in her territory on a cold winter morning.

Tigers love water and spend their time in and around small puddles that provide respite from the sweltering heat.
Here Spotty is seen chilling out on a hot summer morning.

Contrary to popular belief, the success ratio of tigers successfully hunting down prey is a paltry 1:20.
Here Spotty is pictured dragging a carcass of a male spotted deer away from the prying eyes of scavengers.
