#JabWeMet: It was love at first sight!

January 31, 2015 11:03 IST

We invited you, dear readers, to share your love stories this Valentine's Day.

Here, Shivalika Patel tells us how she met the love of her life.

I was in class 11 and I saw him in the school bus.

I was new to the school and we would be in the same bus.

I waited for a month for him to notice me but I realised soon that I was only just wasting my time.

He was too shy to approach a girl so I sent a word to him through a friend expressing my interest in him.

Much to my surprise he agreed to go out with me.

We completed our Class 12 and went our ways; he joined the merchant navy and I pursued my business administration.

For the next ten years, we never met but stayed in touch.

Meanwhile my father passed away and my mother went into depression.

I was the only one who could take care of her and she consumed all the free time I had.

We fell out of touch.

A common friend told him of my situation.

He expressed his desire to marry me to his parents and they accepted me with open arms.

My only condition was that he should take care of my mother to which he agreed.

And so on June 18, 2011 our families met; we got engaged on August 11 that year and on February 17 the following year, we got married

He has been a great support system to me, a very good son-in-law to my mother and now a proud father too!

Could I have asked for more?
