Pet pics: The day Kalu came into our lives

May 12, 2019 09:56 IST

We asked you to share pics and stories of your furry companions.

This is what Ravi Yadav had to share. You can share pics of your pets too.

Being a mechanical engineer on projects, I travel a lot.

My maximum stay at one place is just around a year-and-a-half.

During my stay in Odisha, my son Aarat wanted me to bring home a dog.

That was around the time my project was about to finish and I was planning to move to Rajasthan.

I promised to get him a pet when we moved to our new home.

I got transferred to Chittorgarh, and in Rajasthan I found people who are still trying to preserve their culture.

We found that almost every third house has a dog.

Aarat saw that dogs are an essential part of life in Chittorgarh, and he was after me to get one.

Considering my transferable job, I did some research on the breeds of dogs.

During my research, I met people who kept pet dogs. One of them was senior veterinary doctor of Chittorgarh Polyclinic, Dharmendra Soan.

He told me to get any Indian breed. I then got home Kalu, a Rampur Hound from a relative, an ex-colonel in the Indian Army.

The day Kalu came into our lives, everything changed. At that time, he was only 50 days old.

My son used to play and spend time with Kalu instead of watching television, playing video games or being glued to the mobile phone.

Kalu has one particular habit. Other than Aarat, he only listens to my wife, but never listens to me.
