Jab We Met: 'She was simple, innocent'

March 09, 2016 14:27 IST

We'd asked you, dear readers to share your love stories with us.

Dr VijayKumar tells us how two people from different cities ended up as partners for life.

Vijay and Anwaya

I was completing my admission process for M.D in Community Medicine at Government Medical College, Aurangabad.

At that point, I saw a simple, quiet girl (Dr Anwaya) also busy finishing up the admission process. I just had a glimpse of her.

After ten days, I got a call from my uncle that his relative had got admission in post graduation in the same college. He had requested me to help her if needed.

I was unaware of my destiny.

A month later, I met Dr Anwaya again. She was the same girl -- simple and innocent.

Two months later I saw her from the OPD (out patient department), and found her limping. I went up to her to help and ended up with an ankle sprain myself.

We became friends and within one year of friendship we came to know each other well.

My family proposed that I should ask her for marriage... but I was scared that she might say 'No'.

Meanwhile, I got a chance to drop her at Jalna (a town in Aurangabad). On my way, I gathered courage, stopped my bike and proposed to her. (I was hoping nobody would see me getting slapped.)

But she accepted and wanted to talk to her parents. Her family visited my house.

We were both stressed, but you know, love always wins. We gave our parents an ultimatum -- either they make it happen or we would go for a court marriage. Thanks to our parents who finally agreed.

We've been successfully married for 10 years and have two wonderful kids.

We did face issues as we were from different states, but we overcame them and love won. Love can create miracles, indeed!
