Jab We Met: She is my friend's sister

March 01, 2016 12:25 IST

We'd asked you, dear readers to share your love stories with us.

Satish Gangwar tells us how he found his lady love Deepti.

Our story has action, drama, emotion and fun.

Deepti and I met around 14 years ago.

I was pursuing second year of graduation.

She had completed Class 12, and had come to her brother's place in the city to pursue graduation.

I was visiting her brother, who was my friend, when I spotted a simple, lean girl watching television.

That image of her still remains fresh in my mind, as if it happened just yesterday.

That was the first time I saw Deepti.

Her brother gave me the task of getting her admitted in the city college for graduation.

I got the chance to be with her for many days, as we visited different colleges and completed all formalities for her admission.

I proposed to her after six months.

There was no reply from her.

I was scared about her reaction... and thought she might tell her brother about it.

There was no discussion for almost two months on this topic.

We usually spoke about college and other things.

But she still didn't give me an answer.

I got the impression that she liked me but wasn't replying.

It went on for almost three months.

Meanwhile, I got more confident that she liked me.

We continued being friends in those three months.

We tried understanding and knowing each other.

And finally, I asked her again about the proposal.

She just said, "What is your opinion, what could be my answer."

I didn't say anything, but I knew it was a 'YES' from her.

We didn't say those three magic words for six years, but the feeling was much stronger than what everyone around us knew about.

The understanding, feeling, care for each other grew strong, and so did our bond.

I knew that she was the one meant for me.

During those years, I changed myself for her and so did she.

Meanwhile, Deepti and my sister became good friends.

My sister came to know about us, as it was evident to everyone around us.

She informed my parents and Deepti's parents also got to know.

Both of us are from the same caste and religion, so that wasn't a big problem.

But there were few hiccups in between, but we struggled it out.

After completing my masters in 2007, I started to work.

We got married in 2008.

In 2013, we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy Arnav. We call him Ansh.

Both of them complete my world.

During the last 14 years (which includes pre and post marriage) we have fought, cried, laughed and shared.

The bond continues to grow stronger day-by-day.

I still remember Deepti telling me, after our marriage was confirmed, "I saw many love stories come to a tragic end after marriage. Ours should not be like one of them."

I am doing my best to keep my commitment.

And hope we have a long way to go in the journey of life, holding each other's handS.
