IIT student creates fabric that changes colour

Last updated on: June 12, 2012 06:30 IST

Muksit Ahamed, an M.Tech student of IIT Delhi, has created a textile that can completely change its colour to match the background.

Soldiers wearing it can completely camouflage their dress, in the thick of action, with a press of a button. It is an electrically conducive fabric, and with the press of a button the temperature changes, automatically making the fabric change colour to match the background.

This textile could prove to be a boon for the soldiers and their equipment, which need to be camouflaged to evade detection by the enemy in the battlefield.
