MI Meat Suppliers (Meherchand Market)

This is a well kept secret in the foodie community. A meat shop by day that opens its doors to hungry customers after 6:30 pm, a meal for 2 at MI Meat Suppliers will rarely be over Rs 300.

The chicken tikka is unique here, served in a creamy sauce and the chicken changeezi seems to be quite a popular order. But the reason you head to this place is for their outstanding chicken wings. Deep fried chicken wings that crackle when you bite the crust are yum and juicy in the centre.

A word of caution though, ask them to go easy on the masala they sprinkle on top, it is often a tad too generous.

Location: 42, Mehar Chand Market, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi

Moolchand Paranthawala (Lajpat Nagar)

Located near Vikram Hotel in Lajpat Nagar, this is the place you go to blindfolded when hungry late in the night. The alu parantha, mix parantha and anda parantha come highly recommended and is served with fried green chillies sprinkled with chaat masala and raita on the side. You can order some dal (served in plastic cups) as well.

Dhabas

The Punjabi streak that runs through Delhi almost begs dhabas to be mentioned in this list. You may find Rs 300 to be a fortune in a dhaba. One can easily order a vegetable, a daal and rotis and still have some money to spare. The paneer bhurjee and dal fry are lip-smackingly good at most dhabas. If you are in West Patel Nagar area, then head to Dwarka dhaba. Another place that draws in the crowds is Aunty ka Dhaba in Basant Lok.
