Harley-Davidson has unveiled two new entry-level motorcycles which will be manufactured in India.

Called the Street 500 and Street 750, these motorcycles will use an all new platform, a first for Harley-Davidson in 13 years.

To be launched in markets around the globe, the Street 750 will be launched first, followed by the Street 500. Both bikes will be exported out of India.

Harley-Davidson is betting big on emerging markets and these new bikes are suited for shorter riders of Asia.

The Street 750 uses a 749cc, Revolution X, V-twin engine which should produce around 50 BHP of power.

The Street 500 uses a 494cc, V-twin engine which is expected to belt out 40 BHP of power.

Both the engines use liquid-cooling and are coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.

These bikes are targeted at young bikers and are thus easy to ride with good city manoeuvrability.

While the Street 500 is expected to cost Rs 4 lakh, the Street 750 will retail at around Rs 5 lakh (all price estimates ex-showroom).

The styling is very Harley-Davidson and unmistakably so. The company wants to compete with bikes which are being launched at this price point offering similar performance.
