In a bid to clear the backlog of minor cases, the principal judge of Mumbai's Sewri fast track court, ML Chauhan, has said they will hold a Maha Adalat on Sunday, March 3, from 10 am to 5 pm.

On that day the Sewri court will deal with small and minor cases pending before it, and if both parties to the dispute reach an understanding the presiding judge would annul the case, a press release from the court stated.

Electricity and water theft, domestic violence, dowry harassment, scuffle without serious injury, verbal abuse, small money matters will be allowed in this Maha Adalat, and not serious cases such as murder.

The principal judge stated that he hoped litigants would take this opportunity to end long-pending cases, and that the court did not mind working on Sundays as long as it helped the public cause.
