Your hair is primarily made up of protein.

While oiling your scalp and washing your hair from time to time can help keep your tresses clean, only a diet that is rich in protein and vitamins will help nourish your hair from within.

Here are some superfoods that will keep your hair luscious, strong and beautiful.

1. Eggs

Eggs contain protein and biotin. Both are important for hair health and growth.

2. Spinach

Spinach is loaded with folate, iron, and vitamins A and C, which helps promote hair growth.

A deficiency in these nutrients may result in hair loss.

3. Fatty fish

Salmon, herring and mackerel are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are known to help improve hair growth and density.

4. Sweet potatoes

Not just while fasting, but you must include roots in your diet.

Sweet potatoes are loaded with vitamin A, which promotes sebum production that may help speed up hair growth.

5. Avocados

This super food is rich in vitamin E and is an antioxidant that may promote hair growth.

Avocados are a great source of essential fatty acids too.

6. Nuts

Almonds and walnuts are packed with nutrients like vitamin E, B, zinc and essential fatty acids.

7. Sweet peppers

Peppers are a rich source of vitamins A and C. Both nutrients ensure your hair stays healthy.

8. Beans

Beans are plant-based sources that contain protein, iron, zinc and biotin.

They are low in calories and regular intake will help regrow your hair.

9. Soybeans

If you are not into milk and eggs, soybeans are a great alternative source for protein.

They are also one of the best sources of spermidine, a compound that may prolong the active phase of hair growth.

10. Meat

Another great reason to include meat in your diet.

Red meat, in particular, is rich in iron, which may aid hair growth.
