With the onset of the monsoons, you will find yourself thinking twice before you step out of the house.

Here are some ways you can protect your hair from damage this rainy season:

1. Try and avoid getting your hair wet in the rain

The pollutants in the rain may weaken the hair bulb, making your hair dull and thin.

Always cover your hair before going out to protect it from humidity.

2. Use a shampoo and conditioner that strengthens your hair from the root to the tip

The high humidity during the monsoon causes your scalp to get wet, which leads to dandruff.

For this flaky reason, remember to keep an umbrella with you at all times in order to keep your scalp as dry as possible.

3. Keep your hair dry

Wet hair is weak and susceptible to break.

Always gently air dry your hair first and then comb it with a wide-toothed comb.

Avoid using heated hair equipment as they make your hair even more dry and rough during the monsoons.

4. Shampoo twice a week and give your hair regular warm oil massages

Your hair turns rough and dry and ultimately leads to heavier hair fall during the monsoons.

A quick warm oil massage, followed by a hair wash, can make your hair soft and manageable.

Avoid styling your hair too often.

5. Eat sprouts

Sprouts are rich in fibre and nutrients such as vitamin E, potassium and iron.

All these are effective constituents of lustrous hair that prevent hair loss during the monsoons.

Eating a small bowl of sprouts daily will help you prevent hair loss.

You may also add fresh fruits, leafy vegetables and raw salads to complete your diet.
