He's rocked a tube top in yoga videos and has given competition to celebs on the red carpet with his 'femme ensembles' and style statements.

Say hello to Jonathan Van Ness, a hairdresser, comedian, activist, author and TV personality, who rocked the cover of Cosmopolitan UK in a dress.

Don't expect him to shave his chest hair, armpits or hairy legs -- he wants to go au natural.

An Instagram sensation and author of New York Times bestseller Over the Top, Cosmopolitan's January cover star is setting an inspiration for many with his BOLD sartorial choices.

Jonathan chose to wear a dress on the cover because he wanted to celebrate the moment. Here's what he had to say, 'This moment means so much to me.

'I grew up loving magazines, reading the stories and looking at the beautiful images.

'I also grew up in a time where HIV stigma was huge and the fear was pervasive and immediate for anyone as soon as they came out (Jonathan is HIV positive and very open about it).

'Being asked to do this cover and doing this cover is bigger than anything I could've ever imagined when I started.

'For so many people who, like me, thought their lives would never feel anything besides disconnection and despair this is a milestone I want to celebrate with them.

'We are deserving of love and celebration. Abuse survivors, people of colour, HIV positive people, and every marginalised community deserves to be seen and celebrated.

'To other people especially young people out there keep going, the sky is the limit.'
