On many occasions, the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 took us back in time.

Presenting the trends that stole the limelight.

1. High Waist Swimsuit

IMAGE: Back in those days, the swimsuit was still conservative.
The high waisted halter neck bathing suit was popularly worn by celebrities both on and off screen.

2. High waist pants

3. Ruffled gowns

IMAGE: Ruffled gowns like these were a staple at royal galas and were loved for the natural drama they create. Slowly they fizzled out to be replaced by leaner, more structured dresses. Would you wear something like this from Shantanu and Nikhil's latest line?

4. Winged sleeves

IMAGE: There is something about winged sleeves that make it a class apart. Make it cold shoulder and you have an impressive final product. Any takers for this Paras and Sonam Modi design Prachi is wearing?

5. Puffed sleeves

IMAGE: Puffed sleeves like these were a rage in the 80s. Be it tops or blouses, they lent a feminine touch to the attire. Would you like to recreate them off the ramp?

6. Collared blouses

IMAGE: Collared tops have been around since the 40s; however, the idea of pairing it with a sari is what makes it so interesting.

7. Chequered pants

IMAGE: Kanika Goyal deserves credit for putting the focus on chequered pants.
