When rugs and carpets became wearables....

There are red carpet dresses, and then there are dresses inspired by carpets.

Like this one being showcased by Lisa Haydon.

Check out the cropped top Lisa is wearing.

Rajasthani designer Swati Vijaivargie's inspiration for her Mauj collection was 'a distinctive artistry of flat weaving called Kilim and Dhurrie.'

Kilims and durries are a type of rugs/ carpets. Do you see a resemblance on this vibrant creation?

Deepti Gujral shows another such creation worn over a single colour dress.

Surelee Joseph opts for an angrakha style kurta.

The colours ranged from beige, ecru, burgundy to maroon, emerald green, Persian blue and black.

It is emerald green for Hemangi Parte.

Motifs were sewn on through applique, patchwork and Shibori on fabrics like pure hand woven silks, silk organza, chanderi, khadi and Kota doriya.
