6 Samsung Galaxy phones to watch out for

This is how the South Korean electronics major plans to indulge its Indian fans

Samsung phones are not only sturdy, robust, powerful and give out promising performances, but they also suit your pocket. With a substantially big market share, Samsung has become quite an established brand.

The phones listed below are the most anticipated ones today in the Indian market. Let’s take a look at them.

Before going through them keep in mind that most of the specifications are speculative in nature at the best because a number of them are yet to land in India.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

Active in the name suggests ruggedness and toughness. Alike all weather cameras, S6 Active is an all-weather smartphone that promises durability without compromising on the original technology.

S6 sports water-resistant and dustproof design. Compass, stopwatch, flashlight are activity zone features all clubbed into one application.

A 5.1-inch quad HD Super AMOLED display sits at the front. At the rear side is a 16MP camera with a 5MP camera at the front. A 3,500mAh capacity battery comes with wireless charging capability for which wireless charging pad can be bought separately.

In nutshell Active, is a slightly modified clone of Samsung Galaxy S6. The device has made its way in the international market but its launch is still awaited in Indian.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G is a dual-SIM device that runs on Android KitKat 4.4 and houses a 5-inch wide qHD TFT display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Clocking in at 1.2GHz of speed, the quad-core processing engine comes coupled with 1GB RAM. There is an 8GB internal storage and external storage can be expanded via microSD card by up to 64GB.

Connectivity options include 3G, 4G, NFC, GLONASS, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The smartphone weighs 156 grams, measures 144.8mm x 72.1mm x 8.6mm and has a 2,600mAh battery as its powerhouse.

Grand Prime 4G's body comes in grey and white colours. Available in global market, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G’s release in India is expected soon.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus

Galaxy S5 Plus offers a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED screen. Many of S5 Plus’s features are same as the original S5. The features include a 16MP rear facing camera, a 2MP front snapper and a 2,800mah capacity battery. The underlying mobile operating platform is Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with a layer of new version of TouchWiz UI by Samsung.

The in-built storage is 16GB and external storage can be expanded by up to 128GB via microSD card.

Other features that have been picked from the 2014 flagship are IR sensor, USB 3.0, NFC, heart rate and fingerprint sensors. S5 Plus sports dust and water resistant certification as well.

Though the device was rumoured to land in India before the release of Samsung Galaxy S6, it is still in the list of upcoming smartphones by Samsung.

Succeeding Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sports a premium design with shape and contours that closely resemble Galaxy S6 (pictured above). The size is obviously bigger as it incorporates a larger screen.

Speaking of screen, Note 5 flaunts a stunning 4K ultra HD Super AMOLED display that not only symbolises strength but also colour accuracy and contrast.

Display size is 5.78-inch and pixel density is 762ppi. The processing power is derived from a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 engine coupled with 3GB of RAM.

The operating system is the latest Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

Note 5's 3,220mAh powerful battery supports Ultra Power Saving Mode. Its dual screen sibling, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Edge is also expected to see the light of the day around the same time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Duos offers a 5.7-inch wide Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The processing engine at work is 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 coupled with Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB RAM.

It features a 13MP camera at the back side that catches images with a resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels. At the front side, there is a 2MP camera. Videos can be recorded at a resolution of 30fps. The inbuilt storage is 16GB and external storage can be expanded by up to 64GB via microSD card. Besides a whopping 3,200mAh battery, the connectivity features include 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, microUSB, etc.

Samsung Galaxy A8 offers a gigantic 16MP main shooter with a 5MP camera at the front side. There is 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with high pixel density of 386ppi. The phone is 5.9mm thin and weighs only 140 grams.

Under the hood, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processing engine provides life to the smartphone. The processor is coupled with 2GB RAM and inbuilt storage is 16GB. A microSD card slot is provided to enhance the external memory of the device. The operating system is Android 5.0.1 with TouchWiz UI on top and battery power is 3,050mAh battery. A8 also supports LTE connectivity of CAT4.
