Expert tips to crack IBPS clerk exam

Lakhs of students will be appearing for the IBPS clerk examination this year. Here are some tips to help you crack the entrance exam.

The annual entrance examination for recruitment of clerical positions in various public sector banks in India is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

The IBPS Clerk Prelims examination for the year 2015 is scheduled to be conducted on December 5, 6,12 and 13, 2015.

In an online chat with readers, Amit Jaiswal, head of academics, MockBank.com offered advice on how to crack the examination.

naman: sir what is the cut off for clerk exam?

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Naman, cut-offs depend on various factors. Ideally the cut off should be close to 40 per cent of total marks.


tushar: Approximately, how many students appear for this exam in India?

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Tushar, last year around 9.5 lakh people wrote the examination last year for approximately 30,000 vacancies.


kunika: Sir my reading skills are very bad. Pls advice how to improve.

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Kunika, improving reading speed is a time investing process.

You may like to read "How to improve the reading speed" by Norman Lewis. This will certainly help.

Keep reading books, including fiction and non fiction both. Keep reading newspapers also.

Amit Jaiswal: Hi, I hope that you understand aptitude and reasoning questions in Hindi.

Read newspapers, finish grammar rules, improve vocabulary and do the proper analysis of all the mock examinations that your write. These will help.


Nirupama Trivedi: Where can I find question bank and previous years question papers?

Amit Jaiswal: Since, the examination has gone online, you cannot avail the last year's paper.

Vimlesh Purohit: What is the number of vacancies for clerk positions this year?

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Vimlesh, around 30,000 clerks are required. Thanks

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Shridhar, the prelims exam is on 5th of December. One needs to be graduate to write for the exam.

Amit Jaiswal: Hi Anupam, your prelims marks will only take you to mains examination. Final selection depends on the marks in Mains and PI round.
