August 18, 2010 14:42 IST
Anshu Jain of Deutsche BankDid you see the report in the business newspapers this morning that Anshu Jain, left, who heads Deutsche Bank's corporate and investment banking divisions, may miss the top job at the bank?

The reason: The brilliant banker does not understand or speak German, the language spoken by current and previous chairmen at the 140-year-old Frankfurt-based bank.

This, despite Mr Jain's division contributing about 80 per cent of the German banking giant's profits.
