Will Pallavi Singh be the next supermodel?
February 05, 2009
February 2 saw several modelling hopefuls audition for the autumn/winter instalment of Lakme Fashion Week 2009.

Twenty models made the shortlist; of these, eight will make it to the runway.

Meet these fresh faces in this new Get Ahead series:

Pallavi Singh is one of the finalists who may make it to Fashion Week.

Pallavi, 20, moved from her native Delhi [Images] to Bengaluru [Images] last year to study fashion design at the Vogue Institute. She has worked closely with Bengaluru style teacher Prasad Bidappa for the last year.

Just 12 months after beginning her modelling career, she can boast of having walked the ramp for star designers Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Shantanu and Nikhil, Raghavendra Rathore and Manish Malhotra.

"I have done about 150 shows so far," says Pallavi, who is 5' 9" tall. "Working with Prasad Bidappa has been a great experience. He is grooming me for this career."

When she was young she wanted to become a doctor like her dad. Thankfully for us, modelling won over medicine.
